Craving for Satay? Try Ah’ Basri!
My wife has heard about this place over and over again so one day after work on a Friday late afternoon, we decided to drop by. Ah’ Basri is not too far from my house, located at Sg Ara area (opposite Fisherman’s Grill) and easy to spot if you look out for a giant poster with the word “Satay”.
The restaurant view from the car park, plenty of space to hold 8-12 cars.

Interior of Ah’ Basri, simple and relaxing

colourful menu

spicy tofu as a starter with spicy sauce!

ketupat (rice cakes) with the peanut sauce

finally the ‘main event’. Chicken, beef and squid satays with a variety of flavours: tom yam, original, black pepper and etc….
They even had wilder game on the menu – venison, emu and even horse, yes, you read that correctly, horse! I was trying to persuade my wife to go for emu but she firmly said NO. Price per stick is around RM1.20 – RM1.80 and the portion is slightly bigger than what you get on the street.

Hint: If you have not try it, I would recommend it to you. Although slightly pricier than the average hawker satay, it’s well worth it and the side dishes did not disappoint! Service staff are quite friendly.Do try to go early if you can because we passed by a few times during peak hours and most of the time the car park is full.
